In Biography – Ryan McGinley, the artist appears as a job applicant, and repeats her job interview pitch relentlessly. With each additional repetition, she approaches her threshold to process who she is and who she wants to be. It is both a plea for clarity and her desire to reconcile her past. In continuing to push herself, she loses control of what's real and what's not. Ultimately, this overt gesture of examining herself only reinforces her past, making it harder to understand the present.
